The illmunkeys are not monkeys - we've evolved. Notice the 'u.'
Newt Gingrich has abandoned the values our country was founded upon.
First, he claims "the threat of biological or nuclear attack requires America to consider curbs to speech to fight terrorists, if it is to protect the society that makes the First Amendment possible." Such 'protections' do not make us safer, they only give us one more enemy: our own government. What, then, becomes permissible? Who determines what is curbed and what is not?
Second, referring to the six Muslims who were ejected from the airlines for praying, he says: "Those six people should have been arrested and prosecuted for pretending to be terrorists." That's fairly frightening news to Muslims. Does praying constitute acting like a terrorist? He's not talking about curbing freedom of speech, but also the freedom of religion.
Finally, he seeks to end a fundamental right in our courtrooms. Newt says "If you give me any signal in the age of terrorism that you're a terrorist, I'd say the burden of proof was on you." Our courts don't work this way, and don't because abuse would become rampant. Innocent until guilty, Newt. Not the other way around.
Sorry, Newt. I would never sacrifice my safety for any of these measures. I love my freedom to disagree with you, my ability to choose who it is I pray to and how I pray, and the fact prosecutor's need evidence of any wrongdoing before charges can be brought against me.
Your beliefs are horribly dangerous to this country. Do us a favor Newt, and retire.
Don't die.
