A full moon can be particularly frightening if you happen to live with a werewolf.

Two privacy issues have come to my attention. The first isn't much of a big deal - if the FBI are using this tactic against you, they've been granted a warrant. However, the second is a fairly serious issue.

The first privacy issue I have to talk about has to do with your cell phone. Did you know the FBI can switch it on to act as a microphone to record your conversation if you're within vicinity of it? Well, the Genovese family (one of those Mafia families) found out today when Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that such spying was within the bounds of the FBI. So, if you're a mobster and you're having one of those confidential moments, don't have a cellphone on you or remove the battery. Powering down the phone isn't enough. As I said, though, a warrant still needs to be issued for this type of probe, and as such, has checks and balances we can all agree on (this is, of course, only for so long as the technology isn't abused).

The second revelation this week was the info that every American citizen is being profiled on their potential to be a future terrorist. This is done in secret and cannot be reviewed or challenged. Not only that, but whatever they conclude stays in your fie for forty years. You can see a convenient list on how you're rated at the Huffington Post or you can read a Privacy Impact Assessment. Profiling sucks. Sure it can flag future terrorists, but it's been known to ruin the quality of life for countless innocents as well.

Don't die.
