I like scary dreams, as long as calculus isn't involved.
Will the woes of the PS3 herald the age of MS dominance in the gaming market?
Today, according to this article, Sony is admitting to the possibility of pushing back the PS3 release to 2007. There are also rumours the Playstation 3 will cost 800+ dollars. Yep. That's a large chunk of money (my computer cost only a little more than that). Sticker shock is going to hurt Sony, expecially since Nintendo is claiming that their console will debut for less than $200. We should aslo expect MS to drop the price of the XBox 360 just before the PS3 hits the market.
The XBox 360 is looking more and more like the next top dog (of course, Nintendo could suprise me and release something worth owning). Sony's quest to produce the best hardware will probably end up hurting them. The GameCube should have taught the industry a lesson - superior hardware does not garner more of the market.
Don't die.
